The team at Thinklab is made up of individuals who are both lawyers and educators. We have experience practicing law and teaching law and we are committed to helping make legal information more understandable and accessible to everyone.

Michael Litchfield is a lawyer, educator and management consultant and is the Managing Director of Thinklab Legal Education and Training. Michael holds a variety of academic appointments including Director of the Business Law Clinic at the University of Victoria, Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law and Associate Faculty at Royal Roads University.
In addition to his academic work, Michael has a depth of experience consulting with a variety of public and private sector organizations on matters ranging from strategic planning to recruitment and continuing professional development. Michael is a government appointed member of the Property Assessment Appeal Board and the Civil Resolution Tribunal.
Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia and a Master of Laws from the University of Victoria. Michael is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Human Resources Management Association.

Jennifer Smith is a lawyer, educator and researcher and is the Research Director for Thinklab Legal Education and Training. Jennifer holds an appointment as Associate Faculty at Royal Roads University where she teaches for the School of Humanitarian Studies, School of Environment and Sustainability, and School of Business in a variety of in person and online courses.
Outside of her academic work, Jennifer is an accomplished legal and research professional with wide ranging experience within academic and private sectors, including development and delivery of continuing professional development services. Jennifer is a government appointed member of the Employment and Assistance Tribunal.
Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Calgary, and a Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws from the University of Victoria. Jennifer is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia.
The team at Thinklab also consists of a variety of lawyers, educators and other subject matter experts who assist in the development and delivery of educational content on an as needed basis.
